Cold Rolled Steel Sheet and Coil
Cold rolled steel is manufactured from hot rolled coil which is pickled to remove surface oxidization. Pickled hot rolled coils are then cold reduced to final dimensions.
Because of the severe cold reduction, usually 50% or more, the cold rolled coil has extremely low ductility. The coil is then annealed to improve the ductility followed by temper rolling to ensure the finished product has the shape or flatness required.
Cold rolled steel can be produced to a variety of grades and surface finishes to meet specific end-use requirements. Typically it is supplied light oiled to impede the rusting process.
Typical applications include appliances, automotive components, doors, shelving and electrical/electronic boxes.
