Aluminum Specialty Products
Tread Plate Bright 3003
Available in sheet and plate. Tread Plate Bright 3003 is easily welded and formed and has a bright finish for a pleasing look.
Typical Applications
Truck boxes, running boards, tool boxes, and other trim
Aluminum Alloy 3003
Available Shapes
3003 is available in Coil, Plate and Sheet.
Characteristics
The 3003 alloy is non-heat-treatable, its corrosion resistance and formability are excellent, but its anodizing characteristics are rated as fair.
Typical Applications
3003 is often used in general sheet metal work, stamped, spun and drawn parts, cabinets, mail boxes, food and chemical storage and handling. If higher strength is desired consider 5052.
Aluminum Alloy 3105
Available Shapes
Alloy 3105 is available in coil and sheet.
Characteristics
3105 is an essentially 98% pure aluminum alloy with minor additions for strength. It is not hardenable by heat treatment, and has excellent formability, corrosion resistance and welding characteristics.
Typical Applications
3105 is commonly used for building products.
Aluminum Alloy 5052
Available Shapes
5052 is available in Coil, Plate and Sheet.
Characteristics
5052 is one of the higher strength non-heat-treatable alloys. It has a high fatigue strength and excellent corrosion resistance, particularly in marine atmospheres. The formability of the grade is excellent and in the annealed condition it offers higher strengths than 1100 or 3003 grades. One of the most popular alloys.
Typical Applications
5052 is often used in high strength sheet metal work, marine components, appliances, fuel and oil tubing, signs, trucks bodies and electrical cabinets.
Aluminum Alloy 5083
Available Shapes
5083 is available in Plate and Sheet.
Characteristics
5083 is the highest strength non-heat-treatable alloy in commercial use. It has good formability and weldability. It is used most often in structures requiring high weld efficiency and maximum weld strength. 5083 also has excellent resistance to corrosion.
Typical Applications
5083 is commonly used in highly stressed welded assemblies, dump truck boxes, marine applications, storage tanks.
Aluminum Alloy 5086
Available Shapes
5086 is available in Plate and Sheet.
Characteristics
5086 is a medium to high strength non-heat-treatable alloy. The alloy has wide application in the marine industry. Corrosion resistance is excellent.
Typical Applications
5086 is commonly used in the construction of ship hulls (due to stress corrosion cracking resistance), dump bodies and rail cars.
Aluminum Alloy 5454
Available Shapes
Alloy 5454 is available as sheet and plate.
Characteristics
5454 is a non-heat-treatable alloy with strengths between 5052 and 5083.
Typical Applications
5454 is used in storage tanks and pressure vessels for sustained elevated temperature service, and road tankers.
Aluminum Alloy 6061
Available Shapes
Alloy 6061 is available as sheet, plate, extruded shapes, rod & bar, pipe & tube.
Characteristics
6061 is a heat-treatable grade widely used in structural applications. The alloy has good corrosion resistance and weldability and possesses good formability in certain Tempers.
Typical Applications
6061 is used in structural areas where both strength and corrosion resistance is required, truck bodies and frames, and towers.
Aluminum Alloy 6063
Available Shapes
Alloy 6063 is available as extrusions, rod & bar, and pipe & tube.
Characteristics
6063 was developed for and has become the most important extrusuion alloy. It possesses moderate strength and has excellent finishing characteristics. For these reasons, 6063 has become the prime architectural alloy and its response to a wide variety of surface finishes further demonstrates its versatility. The corrosion resistance is very good and the grade is easily welded and brazed.
Typical Applications
6063 is commonly used in decorative and architectural applications, door and window moldings, lawn furniture, and trim.
